Painted in the last decade of her life, Be Beautiful is a delicate work in the photorealist style that Weber first adopted in the mid-1970s, inspired by the storefronts and urban detritus of New York City. Be Beautiful depicts empty plastic water bottles, cans, and a discarded advert for a beauty salon. The painting subtly highlights the materials and routines that sustain us on a daily basis, but which also consume resources and impact the environment.
