In this collage/painting hybrid, Haworth continues to explore the corset and the necktie, motifs she has repeatedly returned to. Ruth's Diner of the title is a restaurant in Emigration Canyon near Salt Lake City, Utah. Established in 1930, the diner is a local institution, and according to Haworth the place you go after a wild night out or to celebrate a family occasion. The canvas tie in the composition features painted fried eggs and bacon. Haworth indicates the piece is also about gender fusion, with the male and female signs combined in the composition, indicating the diner as a democratic space full of the richness and variety of life.
