Inspired by the Fluxus movement of the 1960s, Nasirli presents the Fluxus Frequency Collective, bringing an immersive exhibition that combines sound, visuals, and pushes the boundaries of traditional artistic expression.
As the artist examines the concept of frequencies, both in the context of sound waves and the broader human experience, she reflects on the meaning of the Latin word Fluxus, defining “flowing”, and emphasizes the artistic process, valuing its significance over the finished product.
Every artwork presented has an accompanying selected or original musical score for an audio-visual experience.
The exhibition uses an interactive language of frequencies for audience engagement. Visitors are invited to experience various audio-visual worlds and question how particular frequencies affect all living organisms in the context of a rapidly changing digital environment.
The light flow of lines on Nasirli’s canvases as well as their clear orientation, become a significant technique in the artist's projections. One of the primary visual and metaphorical elements employed by Nasirli is waves. Waves and undulations manifest in a broad spectrum of forms through her exploration of strokes, sounds, and shapes. For the artist each giant wave is a single brushstroke.
By repeatedly highlighting the perspectives of individual sensing in her art, Nasirli guides the viewer through a variety of performances, discrete frequencies that complement artworks, and light mapping. Nasirli’s installations engage a wide range of elements to create a multi-sensory reality. Thus, the viewer is guided through works, such as Expansive eneregy, conveying a wide range of emotions and aspects of the human experience, and series of artworks like Naminoru, following common motifs, widespread in art history, framed within the artist's personal interpretations. The (FLOW)er installation, centerpiece of the exhibition, is a growing painting that generates music in real-time through live plants. It collects constructive conversations between plants and shares these frequencies with listeners.
