WALTER HUGO & ZONIEL | PUBLIC INSTALLATION | MIAMI BASEL 2014

‘The Physical Possibility of Inspiring Imagination In The Mind Of Somebody Living’

Fascinated by the idea that art within a public realm has a greater potential to inspire, Walter Hugo & Zoniel have created a temporary, large scale site-specific surrealist installation to coincide with Miami Basel and its satellite fairs. Every evening at 5.45pm as the sun sets the shutters of a house located in the heart of the Buena vista, Miami anonymously open, emanating light and revealing tanks of giant jellyfish filling the space within. Open until 9pm each night, the psychedelic display, intended to have a surreal presence to intrigue and inspire local residents and passers by. As part of the durational site-specific project, a live-stream video from within the tanks is projected by Gazelli Art House at SELECT MIAMI, where viewers are able to see through the tanks into the streets of the Miami suburb, revealing a virtual corridor between the two previously disparate sites…
