Khanlar Gasimov’s body of work incorporates spiritualism and one’s relation to and association with the surrounding environment. The focus of the artist’s oeuvre spanning over twenty years, has been the ultimate balance of the inner and outer world that is obtained through the exploration of individual power of mind and perceptions. Forming a reflective platform, Gasimov’s latest body of work draws inspiration from his home country, Azerbaijan and its spiritual poetry. Reciting poetry on various surfaces (as a performance based and sculptural body of work), Gasimov explores the variations of energy and the absorption of it by the different materials ranging from photographic paper to clay and untreated canvas.
