For aurèce vettier, textiles become a site where memory, dreams and artificial intelligence converge. Developed through custom-trained AI models built from personal archives of childhood photographs and family records, the artist’s works transform algorithmically generated imagery into tactile forms. This fusion of personal memory and algorithmic reconstruction has led to le travail des rêves, a body of work that explores dream-work, the Freudian term for the unconscious process that converts latent, hidden thoughts into manifest dream images. These images and forms are then materialised in various media including painting, sculpture, bas-reliefs, and textile-based mediums such as tapestry. Poetry remains the backbone of aurèce vettier’s entire approach: algorithmic distortions of language, landscape and memory places his experiments at the threshold between the known and the unknown. The intimately-scaled piece seraph in the heart of a magnificent forest of savoy beneath clear starry skies (2025) features an angel-like being at its centre. Part-animal and part-human in form, the mysterious celestial creature stand illuminated amongst the dark trees.
