Overview
Philomène Amougou & Camille Roded, Philomène Amougou & Camille Roded

On View: Thursday July 9th – Sunday August 29th
Digital Private View/Performance: July 11th, 6-6.30 PM (BST)

We are pleased to announce that the guest panel of Andrew Renton (collector and curator), Kirsty Ogg (director of Bloomberg New Contemporaries), and Tabish Khan (art critic) have nominated Philomène Amougou and Camille Roded as the winners of the Spring/Summer 2020 Window Project.

In her creative process Philomène Amougou takes on the role of a scientific archaeologist, who digs into the Earths core, reconciling the creative and destructive forces. Regarding biology as a way to explore the evolution of form, the seed of her work evolves in hybridization. From drawing, painting, sculptural installation, performance and sound production to filmmaking, her work is interconnected in its own parallel mythological world that probes the dilemmas and traumas that shape our time.

Israeli-Norwegian visual artist Camille Roded explores spaces of personal stories through the medium of film, such as in her recent projects where the inner worlds of artists and collectors are represented. Camille is interested in exploring film as a tangible medium; extending the screen to a physical environment, crossing disciplines between moving image, print and set design.

For the Window Project, the London-based artist duo will present their 16mm photographic stills ‘Chrysalis’. These works play on the direct participatory relationship between filmmaker and performer, through a macroscopic observation of a floating body; free of perspective and in an embryonic state reminiscing on the struggle of confinement.

On the 11th of July through Gazelli Art House Online we will unveil the artist’s performance piece ‘Womb cell & Umbillical roots’, 2020.
