Traps, a standard drum kit has had all its shell plywood that gives the kit both its visual solidity and its ability to function cut away - leaving only the edges or fragile supporting structure as a line drawing in space.
This removal of the bounded spatial volumes makes it literally a skeleton of its former working self. No longer is the retainer keeping the medium (air) in its place.
