The Emerging (5 legs AP) develops the recurring motif of AlDowayan’s The Emerging series through a small cluster of Jesomite legs. Like the other works in the series, the legs appear at a moment of passage, breaking through a surface and remaining between the private sphere and the public one.
The motif does not describe a completed arrival. Instead, the work holds the body at the threshold between states, retaining the shape it is leaving while moving toward another. Through the repetition of the same bodily form across different works and materials, The Emerging series returns to transformation as an ongoing process.
