With its physical spaces temporarily closed, Gazelli Art House programme continues online with the new exhibition – Borders.
On Friday 1st May 2020, the gallery hosted a screening of works by the artist duo Aziz + Cucher, which was followed by a Q&A.
This screening presented In Some Country Under a Sun and Some Clouds, a four-channel multimedia installation which was originally commissioned by the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
Using a mixture of performance and video compositing techniques, the piece communicates the psychological aftermath of conflict and displacement. For our current exhibition we have adapted this experience to a 360 degree immersive video, which allows the viewer to navigate around the installation.
This work was followed by a single-channel screening of Report From The Front. An archeological excavation site is turned into a potential battlefield, and themes are raised of land ownership, history and digging, and searching for a trace of belonging and meaning.
