A panel discussion bringing together leading voices from Azerbaijan’s art scene to explore Mikayil Abdullayev’s life, practice and legacy.
As part of Mikayil Abdullayev: The Light of Distant Roads, Gazelli Art House Baku presents a special public panel discussion dedicated to the life, practice and legacy of one of the defining figures of twentieth-century Azerbaijani art.
Bringing together personal recollections and art historical perspectives, the conversation will look beyond individual works to consider Abdullayev within the broader artistic and cultural context of his time.
The discussion will explore his travels through India, Afghanistan and Italy, his working methods and approach to portraiture, his monumental commissions for the Baku Metro, his international exhibitions and recognition abroad, as well as his lasting influence on Azerbaijani visual culture.
