Machine Painting Series TCM #4 (1995) belongs to AARON’s Painting Machine era. An example of a fully machine-made work, this painting was executed by Cohen’s custom-made robotic station, connected to AARON, which completed the drawing and applied the colour to the paper independently of the artist’s hand.

A cropped female figure occupies the foreground, set against a complex abstract background, demonstrating the advanced machine handling of perspective, figures, abstract decorative elements and colour decisions. Similar examples from the Painting Machine series were exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art in 2024 and at M+ Museum in Hong Kong as part of exhibition Making It Matter: The Foundational Role of Digital Art (2024-25) underscoring the enduring institutional interest in Harold Cohen’s legacy.
