A play on the expression, “Minding your Ps and Qs” which has the sense of doing the right thing. Here in the painting are references to Piet Zwart, Matisse cutouts, Malevich and Lissitzky, some of my favourite artists and historical forebears. Also the shifted red and yellow squares could be the tail of a Q.
