The Past Dreams of the Future IV is made from tussar silk, silkscreen ink, and acrylic paint. Its surface is curled and layered into a form closer to a fossil or a dried leaf than to a conventional sculpture.
The title describes the work as holding a past that is still actively dreaming forward. The transformation of silk, image, and painted surface into a new form brings past and future into the same object. Within the exhibition, the work participates in the same movement traced across AlDowayan’s practice: an inherited form does not remain unchanged, but continues by being folded into another state.
