The third in her Experiment series, Experiment No. 3 is set in the Garden of Eden. Eve plucks an apple from the forbidden
tree whilst two figures to her right kiss and a snake slithers underfoot. In religious traditions, Adam and Eve are
considered the first people created by God, and their story symbolizes the beginning of humanity and its trials.
However, from a philosophical or science fiction perspective, they can also be interpreted as subjects of an experiment
– perhaps a test of free will, moral choice, or the nature of human existence itself.
In the small-scale painting Saadatkhan stays true to her signature style, employing collage techniques to construct a
thought-provoking visual dialogue on this timeless theme as the interplay of materials and form mirrors its ambiguity.
