"I enjoyed working in this atmosphere of change transforming the old and ugly. By finding and saving these 'things' and making something out of them I felt I was giving something back to the ethos of the former culture of the department, while managing unexplained feelings of loss, in the way that one thing inevitably evokes another. Chained Drum is a work that I think conveys some of that inevitability."
