Yvonne Thomas (1913 – 2009) embarked on her artistic journey at the Art Students League in 1938, studying under notable instructors like Vaclav Vytlacil and Dmitri Romanovsky. Throughout her career, she immersed herself in various art schools and communities, including the Ozenfant School of Fine Art and the Subject of the Artists School, where she engaged with influential artists like Willem de Kooning, Lee Krasner, and Jackson Pollock. Thomas showcased her evolving style in numerous exhibitions, from her first solo show in 1954 to later geometric and structural explorations, leaving a lasting impact on the art world, as recognised in the Women of Abstract Expressionism exhibition and the 2023 Whitechapel Gallery showcase.
