Art News | James Ostrer

James Ostrer features in Art News, in the run up to the New York art fair.

"At a booth curated by Azu Nwagbogu, the British artist James Ostrer offered an installation called “Johnny Just Came.” A wall lined with blue and green flip-flops provided the background for a series of photographs, each priced between $6,200 and $6,700, that resemble strung-up people with food and meat attached to them. A release revealed that the work was made in response to a trip Ostrer made to Lagos in 2015, and that the shoes were taken from beaches in the Nigerian city itself."
