Gazelli Art House is delighted to announce Giovanni Ozzola‘s solo show Wrecks and Rooms with Stars (Relitti e camera con stelle) in Berlin at Weserstraße 15, organised by Untitled Association in collaboration with Lychën from April 28th until June 18th. It will include sculptures and photos able to narrate the poetry of the artist over a lengthy period of time (from 2006 to the present).
A series of artworks were also chosen for their capacity to both interfere and create dialogue within the space of Weserstraße, an undefined (or in the process of being defined) setting that is both domestic and public at the same time, with windows facing the street and back rooms. Wrecks and Rooms with Stars is the hint of contrast, a figure which is the basis of Ozzola’s artistic practice.
The works of the artist open up and fragment the space, complicating and intensifying the relationships between lightness and darkness and the dialogue between the rooms, thus expanding exterior views and openings towards boundless horizons and spaces. At the same time, the works also stimulate the emergence (from a hypothetical root and area of underground invisibility) of the wrecks the title refers to, and they can reveal themselves as abstract figures or as small domestic epiphanies.
