On 14th May 2019, Giovanni Ozzola and Rodrigo Orrantia sat down to discuss Ozzola’s third solo exhibition at Gazelli Art House London, 1982.
Giovanni Ozzola is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily in photography, as well as video and sculptural installation. Ozzola’s practice demonstrates a deep sensitivity towards the phenomenon of light and its various physical characteristics. His main thematic interests lie in conceptualising and representing infinitude and exploration, both geographical and introspective. His work has been exhibited in galleries across the globe including China, Cuba, Italy, Germany, South Afria, and South Korea.
Rodrigo Orrantia is an art historian and curator, specialising in photography. Since graduating with an MA in Contemporary and Historical Photography from Sotheby’s Institute of Art, he has worked on and reviewed projects for major museums in the UK, along with art fairs and festivals in UK, Europe and Latin America. He is also a regular speaker at Universities in the UK and France, and in 2015 was awarded Exceptional Talent in the Arts status by Arts Council England for his work in the arts, specifically for curating and producing collaborative projects to connect local communities with international artists.
Orrantia is currently researching connections between photography, geography and place, with an interest in nature and its relationship with the urban/manmade/artificial environment.
