Our former artist-in-residence, Recycle Group, will be opening their new work at the Mairie de Paris Centre in Paris, France. The work, titled La Résistance des IA (The Resistance of AI), will be displayed on the façade of the City Hall.
Recycle Group explore the realm of virtual reality using both recycled imagery and materials, their work aiming to bridge incompatible subjects such as the classical with the contemporary. Recycle Group transforms classical heritage into futuristic narratives — merging sculpture, digital code, and augmented reality. The work is made from thermoformed plastic mesh that forms part of their deep reflection on the impact of new technologies—particularly artificial intelligence—on our lives. Here, the duo incisively explores the theme of humans being replaced by machines in the professional world, a reality that is becoming increasingly prevalent in contemporary societies.
