Marshmallow Laser Feast | Of the Oak at Kew Gardens

Marshmallow Laser Feast unveils Of the Oak at Kew Gardens — a groundbreaking immersive installation exploring the hidden networks of biodiversity sustained by one of Kew’s oldest living giants: the Lucombe oak.

Blending cutting-edge technology with scientific research, this 6-metre-high LED portal reveals the oak as a living system — a nexus of fungi, insects, birds, and breath.

Developed in collaboration with Kew’s scientists and horticulturists, the installation uses LiDAR, Ground Penetrating Radar, and photogrammetry to peer beneath bark and soil, offering an unprecedented view into the rhythms of the natural world.
