We are very saddened to announce the passing of Jane McAdam Freud (1958-2022). She was one of the first artists we met and had the pleasure and honour to work with as we embarked on setting up the gallery in London in 2011. Her humour, wit and creativity brightened our world. Forging her own path, Jane became a multi-disciplinary artist having studied at Central School of Art and Design and at the Royal College of Art under the supervision of John Stezaker and Eduardo Paolozzi. Jane won the British Art Medal Scholarship in Rome where she studied sculpture at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma.
Jane dedicated much of her life to encourage a critical discourse around arts and psychoanalysis, whilst engaging younger audiences through her active teaching roles. Her works are in leading public collections including the V&A, British Museum, Ashmolean, Brooklyn Museum and many others.
Her legacy continues through her work and the impact she has made during her lifetime, both nationally and internationally.
No longer with us, but very much in our memories and hearts. We extend our deepest sympathies to her family and friends.
