Heavy Road to Egypt & Heavy Road to Damascus (Tareeq Masr Althaqeel & Tareeq AlSham Althaqeel). These artworks are inspired by the two motifs from the Palestinian embroidery that were embroidered on the traditional dresses of the women emigrating from Palestine to Egypt, named "Tareeq Masr" (Road to Egypt) and the women emigrating from Palestine to Damascus, named "Tareeq AlSham" (Road to Sham).
Using these two patterns which reflected the status of these women, Nisreen and Nermeen Abudail wanted to narrate in brass pieces and engravings on the stone the journey these women experienced, by moulding and fusing these motifs into other forms to indicate the effect of the diaspora on this emigrant nation. While some fused into other cultures after being forced to live out of their country, others kept solid with no change, amongst many other scenarios that took place. Yet at one point, throughout their journey, they all kept their identity alive within themselves.
