Self-portraits:
During several years of exhibitions and artistic experimentation, Markus has tried numerous techniques, but only one of his topics remains constant: self-portraits in the role of other people.
Due to autistic spectrum disorder, Markus cannot allow any person on his canvas besides himself or his mother, even when he really likes someone. Nevertheless, he found a way – he turns into this person as an actor. For instance, into his favorite, Andy Warhol. To make this he paints his hair white, puts on glasses and takes a selfie. Then he paints a self-portrait which in fact has little to do with the real Andy Warhol or Markus himself. Every character has to go through this several-layered filtration of Markus’s inner world to be able to appear on his canvas.
