Di stress 15 16’ is an expression of the cyclic fear and unrest of the past, present and foreseeable future. My intention is to re-employ the use of the distressed finish on the box to stand for something of a more compelling and universal nature.
In contrast to an unhopeful interpretation and in the spirit of Freudian duality, I have integrated the ever-present other side. By including a barely perceptible (but non the less present) space, between the carved letters DI and STRESS, I intend an invitation to hope for change towards greater empathy and understanding.
