Ramina Saadatkhan b. 1977

Ramina Saadatkhan is a graduate of the Fine Arts Faculty in both the A. Azimov Art School and the Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts. Her work bridges painting, collage and pop art with elements of abstract expressionism. Through dynamic compositions and a fusion of diverse aesthetics the artist delves into universal themes, often drawing from mythology, biblical narratives, and philosophical concepts, yet resists being confined to gendered or socio-cultural interpretations. Saadatkhan works introspectively with bold and colorful imagery and the interplay of archetypal energies to at times create additional layer of interpretation and at other times encrypt the image. Her approach is deeply rooted in Azerbaijani artistic heritage, subtly referencing traditional carpet weaving and medieval miniature painting through her use of color, structure, and symbolism, however she also positions it at the intersection of tradition and the avant-garde. Each phase of her artistic journey represents an unfolding evolution, with the potential to transform into new visual forms while maintaining her signature style.
