To commemorate the launch of the exhibition 9th St. Club at Gazelli Art House, Mary Gabriel (author of Ninth Street Women) speaks with Rex Stevens (guardian of Grace Hartigan’s Estate) and curator Will Corwin.
Mary Gabriel is a best selling author whose biography of five of the women on show partly inspired this group exhibition, and is soon to be turned into a television series. Her research on the life and times of these artists is proof positive of their charismatic and long lasting impact on art history.
The conversation that followed offered an insight into the lives and spirit of the women who were part of the Abstract Expressionist movement, that would come to define an era and echo throughout international art culture.
